BJP raises questions against SMC’s encroachment campaign in Siliguri, alleges hypocrisy

Siliguri, 17th March: The Siliguri Municipal Corporation board has been taking a stern approach towards encroachments across the city. It is to be noted, two days before in the Eastern Bypass strict actions were taken by demolishing 50 big and small shops that encroached on PWD’s vacant space.

However, the BJP took to the streets today questioning the reason why the board did not demolish TMC’s party office located on the same road. Stating this, the BJP alleged the hypocrisy of the corporation. Dabgram-Fulbari MLA Shikha Chatterjee, along with BJP workers, gheraoed the Bhakti Nagar police station and handed over a memorandum to the station in charge demanding the demolition of the TMC party office.

Addressing the subject, MLA Shikha Chatterjee said that the Siliguri Municipal Corporation had launched a campaign against encroachment in the Eastern Bypass area where several shops were demolished. The party office of TMC was on the said road and questioned why it was not demolished. Questioning the duplicity of the corporation and the action of the police, they demanded the demolition of the party office.
