BJP protests in Siliguri demanding reduction in petrol and diesel rates

Siliguri, 09th November: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been vocal in its demand for the reduction of petrol and diesel rates across the state. On Tuesday, protests were staged on behalf of BJP’s Siliguri organizational district and BJP Dabgram Fulbari.


It has been learned that BJP leaders and activists joined the protest in front of the petrol pump at Mahatma Gandhi more in Siliguri. BJP MLA Shankar Ghosh, Matigara Naxalbari MLA Anandamoy Barman and others were present.


On the other hand, Dabgram-Fulbari BJP MLA Shikha Chatterjee joined the protest in front of a petrol pump near Dabgram-2 Jaleshwari Bazar. Party leaders and activists demanded a reduction of petrol and diesel tariffs.

MLA Shankar Ghosh said that the central government has given exemption on petrol and diesel tax in compliance with the demands of common people. In this case, the state government should also be given tax exemption.

On the other hand, Dabgram Fulbari MLA Shikha Chatterjee said “The central government has reduced the price of petrol by five rupees and diesel by ten rupees. We will ask the Center to bring petroleum products under GST in West Bengal. Then people will get a lot of relief.”
