BJP demands resignation of North Bengal University’s Vice-Chancellor

Siliguri, 07th June: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of the district demanded the resignation of the Vice-Chancellor of North Bengal University alleging corruption. On Tuesday, workers and supporters of Siliguri Organizational District BJP, including Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh, staged a sit-in protest at Baghajatin Park. 


In this context, MLA Shankar Ghosh said that the name of North Bengal University Vice-Chancellor Subires Bhattacharya surfaced in the report of the committee headed by Justice Ranjit Kumar Bagh on alleged corruption in the recruitment by SSC. Furthermore, Bhattacharya’s name is also included in CBI’s inquiry list. Despite this, the VC is continuing administrative work at the university. 


The MLA alleged corruption in the appointment of teachers in various departments of the university. He also alleged that the government land in the NBU premises is being handed over to a private company. He demanded a high-level inquiry by the court and the resignation of the VC at the earliest.
