Bimal Gurung’s health deteriorates after staging a hunger strike for 103 hours, MP Raju Bista visited the GJM President at Darjeeling District hospital

Darjeeling, 30th May: Gorkha Janmukti Morcha chief Bimal Gurung sat on an indefinite hunger strike protesting against the GTA elections. Several party leaders including Union Minister John Barla, Darjeeling MP Raju Bista and BJP MLAs reached the GJM party office at Singamari to meet Gurung on Sunday.

While the party supporters and Gurung’s wellwishers tried to pursue him to call off the strike, he stood adamant about his decision. However, doctors raised concerns regarding his health condition after 103 hours of fasting. In view of this, Gurung was taken to the Darjeeling District Hospital yesterday evening.

MP Raju Bista reached the hospital this morning to query about Gurung’s health. Addressing the reporters, the MP asserted that his visit is not a political move and has only come on humanitarian grounds.

“There is no alliance between Gorkha Janmukti Morcha with BJP. There is nothing wrong with GTA elections, but BJP is not contesting the election,” he added.
