Siliguri, 22nd February: Bidhan Nagar police seized three illegal stone-laden trucks and arrested one person identified as Sukur Chandra Singh (32) in connection to the matter. Singh is a resident of Islampur in Uttar Dinajpur district.
The police, acting on a tip-off, nabbed the trucks after conducting a campaign at the Murliganj Check Post. Upon failing to provide any valid documents, Sukur Chandra Singh was immediately taken into custody. Meanwhile, the drivers of the other two trucks managed to flee away from the scene.
According to police sources, the trucks were heading towards Islampur after illegally loading the stones. The arrested accused was produced in the Siliguri Divisional Court today.
