Siliguri, 06th November: Bhaktinagar police detained three people for vandalizing the puja mandap of New Mahananda Sporting Club in Netaji Nagar area of Ward No. 42 under Siliguri Municipal Corporation. Police are deployed in the area to deal with the situation.
Puja committee member Bhajan Banerjee said, “Mahananda Sporting Club has been organizing puja for the last 23 years. Prasad was being distributed last night, during which, some locals entered the pandal premises and vandalized the idol.”
The incident was reported to the police. Upon receiving the information, the Bhaktinagar police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Three people have been detained and an investigation has been launched.
