Bengal Safari Park draws over 2 lakh tourists, generates revenue of Rs 5 crores in FY 2022-23

Siliguri, 23rd May: The management of Bengal Safari Park has released its annual report for the Financial Year (FY) 2022-23, revealing a significant surge in both domestic and foreign visitors. The report indicates that approximately 2 lakhs 87 thousand tourists visited Bengal Safari Park during this period, generating a staggering revenue of about Rs 5 crore 51 lakh 55 thousand. These figures mark a remarkable increase compared to previous years.

In an effort to further enhance the appeal of Bengal Safari Park, the Ministry of Forest in the state has undertaken initiatives to introduce new animal species to the park. Since its inauguration in January 2016 by the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the park has emerged as a prominent tourist destination for both local residents and visitors from outside the region. The major highlight attracting tourists to Bengal Safari Park this year has been the presence of three cubs born to Sheela, the female Royal Bengal Tiger. Notably, a significant portion of ticket sales occurred through offline modes.

Rahul Deb Mukherjee, Assistant Director of Bengal Safari Park, expressed his satisfaction with the performance of the park during the FY 2022-23, stating that it welcomed over 2 lakh visitors and generated revenue exceeding 5 crore. Encouraged by these promising statistics, he anticipates a further increase in tourist footfall at Bengal Safari Park this year.
