Bear invasion on the rise with onset of winter in Dooars

Alipurduar, 19th December: Panic gripped the residents after a wild bear was spotted in the Dakshin Dhalkar area of Alipurduar district.


According to reports, on Tuesday morning, the bear came out from the Buxa forest and wreaked havoc in several locations in the said area. Following this, the forest department officials were promptly informed about the matter. Upon receiving the news, Buxa Tiger Reserve officials and forest personnel arrived at the spot and laid nets in the entire area.

Subsequently, after relentless efforts, the forest personnel managed to take control of the wild animal with the help of a tranquilizer. Later, the bear was rescued and transported to Rajabhatkhawa.
