Bangabasi organization hands over a memorandum to the Mayor of Siliguri

Siliguri, 21st February: On the occasion of International Mother Language Day, the Bangabasi organization handed over a memorandum to the Mayor of Siliguri, demanding that the Bengali language be used all over the city.


Sanjiv Chakraborty, the Coordinator of the organization, alleged that no importance is given to the Bengali language in the English medium schools of the city. The organization submitted a memorandum in support of various demands such as Bengali should be made compulsory in the government and non-government offices. Names of the roads and various business establishments should also be written in the Bengali language.

Sanjiv Chakraborty further stated that the Railway Department has already been informed regarding the issue.
