Siliguri, 18th November: Work on the Bailey Bridge over Balasan River in Matigara will be completed in a few days. Meanwhile, another small hume pipe bridge is being built next to the bridge, where only walking and two-wheelers will be allowed. Work of the Bailey Bridge is expected to be completed by early December.
Reportedly, false information has been circulating around the city since Thursday morning that work on the Bailey Bridge is being suspended due to further deepening of pillars.
However, Rajesh Kumar Sinha, Executive Engineer, PWD, NH Division briefed the media concerning false information being spread and said that Bailey Bridge will be completed in a few days and up to 10 tons of vehicles will be able to ply through the bridge.
