Bailey Bridge work to be completed by November 30, vehicles to ply from December 01

Siliguri, 23rd November: PWD officials, on Tuesday, maintained that the Bailey bridge work will be completed by November 30 and the movement of vehicles on this bridge will start from December 01.


It is to be noted that Pillar No. 03 of Balasan Bridge was damaged on October 20 due to heavy rains. As a safety measure, the police administration had suspended the movement of vehicles. After receiving the news, MP Raju Bista inspected the bridge and announced that the work of Bailey Bridge over Balasan river will be completed within 25 days.

However, only vehicles weighing 10 tons can ply over this bridge. On the other hand, a temporary alternative bridge is also being constructed near the bridge. According to the information received from PWD officials, the construction work of the alternative bridge will be completed within 1 week and from December 01, traffic will resume on both bridges.


Ajay Gupta, an engineer, informed that the ramp work is being carried out. The work will also be completed in three to four days.
