Bagdogra, 18th May: In support of the 06-point demands, the Bagdogra Zone Congress submitted a memorandum to the Traffic OC of the Bagdogra police station. A protest rally was also taken out from the party office at Panighata today.
In this regard, Naxalbari Block Congress President Amitabh Sarkar stated that several private buses painted exactly like the government buses are plying in the area, creating confusion among the passengers. Furthermore, smaller passenger vehicles (Magic) on the Bagdogra-Siliguri route are charging high fares. Sarkar further maintained that demand to install electric traffic signals at Bagdogra Panighata More at the earliest was made along with action against tractor drivers below 18 years of age and anti-social activities on dark flyovers.
