Siliguri, 30th July: On the occasion of World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), West Bengal, organised an awareness programme at Siliguri Girls’ School on Thursday to educate students about the dangers of human trafficking and ways to stay safe.
The programme was attended by CID officials, teachers and representatives of social organisations. Officials explained that traffickers often lure girls with false promises of better jobs, higher salaries or opportunities abroad before exploiting them.
Students were advised to immediately inform their parents, teachers or the police about any suspicious offers and to remain cautious while using social media. They were also informed about their legal rights and the ways to seek help during emergencies.
Officials said that awareness remains the most effective tool in preventing human trafficking and protecting vulnerable individuals from falling victim to such crimes.
