Attempted animal trafficking foiled, 2 arrested, 26 buffaloes rescued in Phansidewa

Phansidewa, 25th May: In a failed attempt of animal trafficking, police apprehended a parcel vehicle, carrying buffaloes, during routine checking at Murliganj Check Post of Bidhannagar under Phansidewa block. In this regard, two individuals, identified as Mohammad Abdullah and Mohammad Amil, both residents of Uttar Pradesh, have been arrested.


Reportedly, upon initiating a search, 26 buffaloes were recovered from the vehicle following which the driver and assistant of the vehicle were arrested after failing to provide valid documents in this regard. According to police sources, the buffaloes were being trafficked from Bihar to Bangladesh via Assam. Meanwhile, today, both the accused have been produced before the Siliguri Divisional Court.
