Atmosphere boils up in Tinbatti and Fulbari surrounding BJP’s Uttarkanya campaign

Siliguri, 07th December: The atmosphere in Siliguri’s Tinbatti and Fulbari area has boiled up surrounding BJP’s Uttarkanya campaign. The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Youth Wing has called for a Uttarkanya campaign today against various issues and also in support of various demands for North Bengal. Multiple BJP state leaders as well as central leaders were present today.


However, since no administrative permission was granted for the BJP’s Uttarkanya Abhiyan, the police had earlier informed that the campaign would be stopped. Accordingly, barricades were set up at different places in Fulbari and Tinbatti. A large police force was deployed to obstruct the rallies. Tear gas and water cannons were kept ready to prevent any untoward incident.


This morning, immediately after the rally commenced from Fulbari, the police officials stopped it. Following which, stones were pelted towards the police. The police then fired tear gas shells and water cannons which heated up the situation even more. A similar scenario was spotted at Tinbatti more area. As soon as the barricades were tried to be broken, the police fired tear gas shells and water cannons.

On the other hand, several police personnel has been injured after stones were hurled at them. Many BJP leaders and activists were also injured in the incident.

Meanwhile, the Jalpaimore traffic guard office in Noukaghat was vandalized. The office chairs were assembled together and set on fire at Noukaghat more. Many BJP Yuva Morcha leaders have been detained by the police.
