Siliguri, 22nd April: The sixth phase assembly elections in Chopra was carried out peacefully without any hindrance. The residents are relieved after the voting ended without any reports of extreme violence today.
Whether it was a panchayat vote or a Lok Sabha vote, clashes, riots, and bombings used to take place in different parts of Chopra earlier. But this time the scenario was different. There was a long queue of voters since this morning. More than 50 percent of people cast their votes by afternoon and more than 70 percent by evening.
The residents of Chopra said that this time the voting was peaceful. No untoward incident was reported due to the presence of the central forces.
