Ashraf Nagar Case Update: Weapons recovered from the residences of two accused

Siliguri, 07th September: Weapons have been recovered from the residences of two accused individuals in the Ashraf Nagar case.


It is to be noted that on August 23 night, a gang of miscreants namely Guddu alias Mohammad Ashique Ali from Ashraf Nagar, Amrinder Singh alias Harmit from Champasari, Subhajit Roy alias Gopal from Pareshnagar, Pemba Tamang from Kamala Nagar, Subham Mahato of Bhupendra Nagar, and others had forcefully entered a house with iron rods, swords, and firearms. The gang also stole away several articles from the house. The video of the criminals committing the act was caught in a CCTV camera installed nearby. The footage was carefully scrutinized and a specific case under the relevant sections of the IPC and Arms Act was registered at Bhaktinagar Police Station.

Following a lead, a police team of the Detective Department and Special Operation Group (SOG) Siliguri Police Commissionerate conducted raids at Delhi and Gurugram areas and was successful in nabbing four members of the gang namely Md Ashique, Subhajit, Pemba Tamang, and Subham Mahato on September 02 from their hideout in Gurugram. At present, all four are in remand. Another accused person named Amrinder Singh has already been arrested on August 31 and is presently in police remand. Today, he will once again be presented in the DD court.


Speaking in regards to the entire case, DD’s ACP Rajen Chhetri said that after interrogating all of the accused, weapons were recovered from the houses of two of them. He said that two swords have been recovered from the house of accused Shubham Mahato and one country-made pistol and one round of live cartridge were recovered from the house of Amrinder Singh.
