Siliguri, 29th November: Ashighar outpost police arrested a youth on charges of raping an 8-year-old girl in the Majhabari area near Ashighar. The arrested accused has been identified as Liton Roy (25).
It has been learned that on November 27, the 8-year-old was allegedly raped by her neighbour Liton Roy when she was alone at home. When her parents returned home from work at night, she narrated the entire incident to them. Following this, a complaint was lodged at the Ashighar police station.
The accused was arrested last night based on the complaint. A case has been filed against the accused under the POSCO Act and he has been sent to Jalpaiguri court today.
On the other hand, the police have started investigating the whole incident and sent the minor for medical examination.
