Siliguri, 11th April: The ASHA workers once again took to the streets to raise their voices in support of several demands. After a meeting at Hasmi Chowk, the workers submitted a memorandum to the Siliguri Municipal Corporation Health Office.
Addressing the media, the workers stated that despite being engaged in public service all these years, they are deprived of benefits including basic health benefits, regularization of temporary workers, minimum wage, weekly and maternity leave.
Runa Chakraborty, a member of the state committee of the organisation, said that ASHA workers have been agitating for their demands for a very long time. And if the government continues to turn deaf ears to their demands, they will be forced to go on strike.
