Appeal made to open tourist sites with 50 percent capacity

Siliguri, 04th January: All tourist centers across the state have been closed since Monday due to the rise in COVID cases. This is creating extreme problems for tour operators, hotel owners, and car drivers.

Earlier too, the tourism industry had to face losses during lockdown and restrictions imposed across the state. Hence, the Eastern Himalayan Travel and Tour Operators Association will approach the Chief Minister with an appeal to re-open tourist centers with 50 percent capacity.

During a press conference held at Siliguri Journalists Club on Tuesday, it was said that a memorandum will be sent to the Chief Minister through the district magistrates of five districts requesting that the tourist centers be re-opened with 50 percent of tourists in compliance with the COVID safety measures.
