Siliguri, 13th January: SOG and Bagdogra police jointly recovered an ancient Vishnu idol. Two persons, identified as Ismail Haque (35) of Jalpaiguri, and Anup Mandal(40) of Cooch Behar, were arrested in the incident.
Reportedly, the idol was intended for sale at Gosaipur in Bagdogra. Acting on a tip-off, Bagdogra Police and SOG team launched operations and recovered the idol.
According to police sources, the market value of the recovered idol is around 6 crore rupees. Police have started an investigation into the whole incident.
