Alipurduar groom waits in queue and casts vote before wedding ceremony

Alipurduar, 19th April: In a bizarre display of democratic fervour, a resident prioritized his duty as a citizen by casting his vote before participating in his own wedding ceremony in Alipurduar.


According to reports, the first phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024 was conducted in the Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, and Cooch Behar constituencies earlier on Friday. Satyajit Roy, a resident of Falakata in Alipurduar, arrived at the polling station dressed in a traditional wedding attire to cast his vote. Despite a busy schedule on his wedding day, Satyajit stood in line with the other voters.

In this context, Satyajit mentioned that every citizen should use their democratic rights since it was one of the most powerful; rights in the constitution.
