Siliguri, 1st February: Constant protests for the reopening of school were being conducted by various students organizations. In view of this, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced the reopening of schools for classes 8 to 12 from February 3.
With the announcement of the new order, the All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO) staged a protest in Siliguri demanding the reopening of schools not just from class 8 but from class 1.
They warned of staging a larger demonstration if their demands are not met soon.
