Kharibari, 30th December: The members of Adivasi Senegal Abhiyan (ASA) joined the Bharat Bandh in Kharibari along with other districts of the state demanding the Sarna Dharam Code.
According to reports, on Saturday, the members participated in the protest by staging a road blockade on the National Highway 327 at PWD More of Kharibari. As a result of the blockade, severe traffic congestion was witnessed on the road.
In response, a huge contingent of police from Kharibari police station including SDPO, CI (Circle Inspector) of the district police arrived at the spot to take control of the prevailing situation.
Speaking in this regard, District President of Adivasi Senegal Abhiyan Renuka Mardi revealed that the bandh was called for in demand of the Sarna Dharam Code. She stated that both the Prime Minister and the President have been informed about the demand. She added that they would continue the protest upon failure to address their demands. Furthermore, she stated that they would vote for the government that implements the Sarna Dharam Code.
