Rajganj, 18th June: One person has been severely injured in a road accident at Bandhunagar in Rajganj. The injured individual has been identified as Hapikul Rahman. He is a resident of the Bhandarigach area.
According to local sources, people travel through dividers as there are no road crossings at the Bandhunagar more of Siliguri-Jalpaiguri National Highway.
Reportedly, a four-wheeler passenger car coming from Siliguri rammed into a motorcycle, severely injuring the rider. He was rescued and rushed to a private hospital in Fulbari. After the incident, the agitated locals detained the car.
Locals complained that even though the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri national highway has been made a four-lane highway, accidents have become frequent due to the absence of road crossings.
Meanwhile, the Ambari outpost police reached the spot and took the motorcycle and the car into their custody. An investigation has been launched into the incident.
