Cooch Behar, 13th November: In a heart-wrenching incident, an elderly woman on Saturday, was found locked inside her house lying next to her son’s decomposed body. The man presumably died three days ago.
As per the report, the deceased Bishwajeet Acharya (55) lived with his mother Chhaya Rani Acharya (95) at the Magazine Road Extension area under Ward No. 14 of Cooch Behar. The neighbours informed the son-in-law of the elderly woman after foul smell emanated from the house. On receiving the news, the son-in-law reached the house today and informed the police. Upon arrival, the police broke the lock and entered the house and saw found the decomposing body of Bishwajeet lying on the bed and his mother was sleeping next to him.
The son-in-law Prashant Saha maintained that the mother and son used to live together. “When I got the information regarding the matter from the people of the area this morning, I came and found the door of the house closed. So I called the police,” he added.
Meanwhile, the police recovered the body and sent it to Cooch Behar Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem. The police are investigating the matter.
