60-year-old tests positive for COVID-19 in Darjeeling

Darjeeling, 23rd July: A 60-year-old resident of Ward No. 26 under the Darjeeling Municipality was taken to Siliguri’s COVID-19 hospital after he tested positive for the novel coronavirus. 


According to the information, the said person had travelled from Bihar 07 days ago and was in home quarantine. His family members have also been kept in isolation as a containment measure.

This takes the total number of positive cases recorded in Darjeeling subdivision since yesterday to 5. Out of this, 2 were reported from Sukhia block and 2 from Bijanbari last night.


As per sources, the 2 cases reported from Sukhia are the parents of a COVID-19 positive patient who is already undergoing treatment at the North Bengal Medical Hospital College (NBMCH). Meanwhile, the travel history and other details of the cases reported from Bijanbari could not be ascertained.

In addition to this, 3 fresh positive cases of COVID-19 were reported from Sukna under Kurseong subdivision, last night.

While 2 more cases were reported from Tindharia on Thursday morning, 1 OCVID-19 positive case surfaced from Barbung Basti of Kurseong.
