Islampur, 23rd August: Sensation prevailed after the body of a 49-year old man was recovered from a paddy field in the Gati Gram Panchayat area under Goalpokhar Police Station, on Sunday morning. The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Zakir, a resident of the Betbari area under Goalpokhar Police Station.
According to the family of the deceased, Zakir stepped out of his house on Saturday afternoon and did not return home at night.
According to sources, the locals sighted the body this morning and immediately informed the police. Upon receiving the news, the police reached the spot shortly after, recovered the body and sent it to the Islampur morgue for an autopsy.
As per the initial investigation, Zakir was murdered and then dumped into the paddy field. The deceased’s family demanded the arrest of the culprits.
