41-year old man commits suicide after testing positive for COVID-19 in Siliguri

Siliguri, 30th April: A 41-year old man committed suicide after he tested positive for COVID-19. The incident surfaced from the Rangapani area in Naxalbari block. The deceased has been identified as Rintu Paul.


As per the report, the deceased was an ambulance driver and took the test at North Bengal Medical College Hospital after developing symptoms. After the report came back positive on Thursday evening, he was extremely depressed and tried to jump off the Fulbari Barrage. However, his family members saved him and brought him home. Unfortunately, his body was found hanging from a noose sometime later.

Ratan Paul, the father of the deceased, said that their son committed suicide after the report came back positive. His lifeless body was found hanging from a noose and was later recovered in the presence of Bagdogra police.
