Rajganj, 21st September: A 31-year old youth Ashok Pandit, who was allegedly in depression, jumped into the Fulbari Teesta Canal, on Monday evening. The incident surfaced from the Lakhhijote area of Fulbari-Ambari Teesta Canal under Fulbari No. 2 Gram Panchayat. He is a resident of the Buraburi Mandir area of Eastern bypass near Siliguri.
According to family sources, Ashok and his mother went to the Teesta Canal area on Monday, when Ashok, who had been struggling with mental depression for the past several days, suddenly jumped into the canal water.
Upon receiving the news, the NJP police reached the spot and jointly with the disaster management team has initiated a search for the youth since Tuesday morning. However, no trace of him has been found yet.
