Siliguri, 21st August: Several transgenders were vaccinated under the initiative of Darjeeling District Legal Aid Forum and with the assistance of BDO BMOH Rajganj and Unique Welfare Society.
On Saturday, the first dose of the vaccine was given to 25 transgenders in the Baribhasha Bhabesh More area. They were happy with the initiative taken and handed over flower bouquets to the organizers and health workers.
Trans woman Maina Das asked all to get vaccinated and said “Don’t be afraid, stay safe.”
On the other hand, Amit Sarkar, general secretary of the Darjeeling District Legal Aid Forum, said, “Today, 25 people were given the first dose of vaccine. Vaccination is a very important matter.”
