22 feet high idol of Lord Ram to be installed in Jalpaiguri on January 22

Jalpaiguri, 20th January:  A 22-foot-high Lord Ram’s idol is under construction in Jalpaiguri. On January 22, the Lord Ram’s idol will be installed in alignment with the consecration ceremony at Ayodhya Ram Mandir.


According to reports, the statue is being constructed in Dakshin Baman Para, adjacent to ‘Gumti-5’ of Ward No. 20 of Jalpaiguri under the initiative of Sri Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha Udyapan Samiti. The excitement level of the general public has been on a high note and with two days remaining, the work has to be completed. As a result, three sculptors are working with seven assistants throughout the day. Notably, 1 quintal of clay and 600 quintals of soil have been utilized to construct the idol.

On behalf of the Committee, Manas Mustafi stated that both the consecration ceremony of Ayodhya Ram Mandir and Ram idol installation at Jalpaiguri will take place on the same day. Arrangements are being made to display the consecration ceremony on a giant screen in the nearby area. In addition, arrangements are being made to showcase the history of Ram Janmabhumi. Further, he stated that, in addition to the screening, Ram Sankirtan, Gita recitation, and cultural programs for children will be organized. A total of 6 priests will perform puja for three days. Furthermore, representatives of all political parties and ‘Dharmguru’ of all religions have been invited for the puja.
