Siliguri, 30th November: The 14th Siliguri Mahakuma Book Fair kicked off on Saturday at Baghajatin Park with the aim of inspiring the new generation’s interest in books. The fair was inaugurated with the lighting of a lamp.
Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb, Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar, Darjeeling District Trinamool Congress President Papiya Ghosh, and other dignitaries were present at the event. As the fair began, crowds of people gathered to explore and purchase books.
Book sellers expressed concern over the decreasing sale of books in the age of the internet but remain hopeful that the fair will encourage more people to buy books.
Mayor Gautam Deb, speaking on the occasion, expressed optimism for the event, saying, “Today is the first day of the fair. We hope this event will draw the new generation’s attention towards books.”
