Jalpaiguri, 21st July: In a single day, 10 positive cases and one death have been reported within the Jalpaiguri municipality area.
Saikat Chatterjee, a member of the BoA of Jalpaiguri Municipality, stated that 24 people from the Jalpaiguri Municipality area have contracted the virus in the past five days. Although a complete lockdown has been enforced across the city, maximum people fail to understand the gravity of the present situation.
“10 positive cases have been reported today. Out of which, one is a female employee of the Jalpaiguri State Bank and another is a prisoner from the Jalpaiguri Central Correctional Home,” he added.
To tackle the situation, the State Bank branch has been shut down for the next 5 days. Meanwhile, all the patients have been admitted to the Jalpaiguri COVID Hospital. On the other hand, an old man from Ward No. 24 died of COVID-19 at Siliguri’s Desun SARI Hospital.
