Youth killed in tragic road accident near Indira Gandhi Maidan in Siliguri

Siliguri, 13th May: A youth died in a tragic road accident near Indira Gandhi Maidan in Siliguri. The deceased has been identified as Deepak Singh. Though a resident of Bihar, he had been living in Siliguri for a long time at a friend’s house for work purposes.

According to police sources, on Tuesday evening Deepak Singh was standing in the area with a friend and their motorcycle when another speeding bike coming from behind rammed into them. Deepak sustained serious injuries in the incident.

Following the accident, he was rushed to Siliguri District Hospital and later shifted to a private nursing home, where doctors declared him dead.

After the incident, police seized both motorcycles from the spot and took them to the police station. Meanwhile, the accused rider allegedly fled from the area and police have started a search operation to trace him.

Friends of the deceased further alleged that proper treatment was not provided at the district hospital. They claimed that a hospital official, allegedly close to the accused, intentionally showed negligence in treatment and helped the accused escape.

Based on these allegations, the deceased’s family members and friends lodged a written complaint at Bhakti Nagar police station on Wednesday. Police have started an investigation into the entire incident.
