Phansidewa, 19th May: An atmosphere of shock and despair swept through the Mohammad Baksh area of the Jalas-nijamtara Gram Panchayat of Phansidewa block after the lifeless body of a young man was found hanging from the noose. The deceased has been identified as Gomen Singh (21).
Family sources revealed that Gomen left home after having his lunch on Saturday. Later that afternoon, a group of youths played football in a nearby field when their ball crossed the boundary. When one of them went to retrieve it they stumbled upon Gomen’s deceased body hanging from a tree.
Following this, the residents gathered at the scene and immediately reported the incident to the authorities. The Phansidewa police arrived at the scene recovered the body and then transported it to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for a post-mortem examination. The police have initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding Gomen’s death.
