Phansidewa, 02nd April: A youth was arrested with firearms from the Haptiagach Bridge on the Indo-Bangladesh border of Phansidewa. The accused has been identified as Dabir Alam of Chopra in Uttar Dinajpur.
As per the report, the police arrested Alam while he was entering Phansidewa from Chathat. One firearm and a round of cartridges were recovered from his possession. According to police sources, the accused had bought the firearms from Bihar. The youth was earlier arrested for various anti-social activities including cattle theft and robbery. He was produced in the Siliguri Departmental Court today. Phansidewa police are probing the entire incident.
