Youth arrested with drugs at Bengal-Bihar border in Kharibari

Kharibari, 11th June: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, police have arrested a youth at the Bengal-Bihar border in Kharibari with a substantial quantity of illegal substances. The arrested individual has been identified as Mohammad Nasik (25), a resident of Singhia Jote.


Reportedly, during a routine vehicle search in the Singhia Jote area, law enforcement officers recovered 103 grams of brown sugar and 20 bottles of banned cough syrup from the car. The operation was conducted by the Panitanki Outpost police under the Kharibari police station.

Following the arrest, a subsequent search of Nasik’s residence led to the discovery of Rs 99,700 in cash and a motorbike, which have been seized by the police. According to sources, the confiscated brown sugar was intended for smuggling into Bihar.


Nasik was presented before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court on Tuesday. The police have initiated a thorough investigation into the case to uncover further details.
