Siliguri, 21st December: Haryana police, with the assistance of NJP police, arrested a youth from Fulbari on murder charges.
Reportedly, Shafiqul Islam, a resident of Bangshihari in South Dinajpur, used to live in Haryana for work purposes. He had a love affair with a young woman from the same state. However, the latter was unaware that Shafiqul was already married. When the woman proposed marriage to Shafiqul, he made several excuses. Last August, he allegedly killed her and escaped from Haryana. The accused youth was then secretly staying in Fulbari.
At the same time, Haryana Police, engaged in the investigation of the incident, traced the mobile location of the youth to be in Banglabandha of Fulbari. Later, with the help of NJP Police, they arrested the youth from Fulbari on Sunday. He was produced in Jalpaiguri court today.
