Siliguri, 11th August: The Food Safety Department conducted another inspection in Siliguri on Tuesday, during which alleged illegal ‘Hookah’ service was found at The Dugout Pub on Sevoke Road.
‘Hookah’ service has been completely prohibited at all pubs and bars under the Siliguri Metropolitan Police area for several years. Despite the ban, ‘Hookah’ service was allegedly being openly provided at the pub. During Tuesday’s inspection, several young men and women were seen with ‘Hookahs’.
The incident has raised questions over how ‘Hookah’ service was allegedly being carried out openly at the pub despite the existing prohibition.
When questioned, the pub authorities stated that they did not have any valid documents or permission related to ‘Hookah’ service. This has led to allegations that the business had allegedly been operating illegally for a long period.
It was also learnt that similar alleged illegal ‘Hookah’ services are being operated at several other pubs in Siliguri, apart from The Dugout Pub.
