Rajganj, 11th August: The BJP Kisan Morcha conducted a shop-to-shop drive at Belakoba Battala Market on Tuesday to curb black marketing of fertilisers. BJP Jalpaiguri District Kisan Morcha President Nakul Das, along with other party leaders, visited several fertiliser shops and checked the situation on the ground.
The BJP alleged that black marketing of fertilisers was taking place in the area. The party claimed that while some shops were stating that fertiliser was out of stock, large quantities were allegedly stored in their godowns. Raising these allegations, BJP leaders checked shop records, stock and sales accounts.
BJP Kisan Morcha District President Nakul Das said discrepancies were found between the stock and records at some shops. He also alleged that despite fertiliser being available in godowns, some shops displayed ‘No Stock’ boards.
Meanwhile, the BJP alleged that several fertiliser shops in the market were closed after news spread that BJP leaders were visiting shops for inspection.
Nakul Das warned that black marketing of fertilisers would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He said similar drives would be conducted across different parts of the district in the coming days and any irregularities found would be brought to light.
