Siliguri, 05th June: On the occasion of World Environment Day, a special programme was organised by the NJP Traffic Guard in Siliguri, during which tree plantation was carried out under the West Bengal government’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.
Police Commissioner Syed Waquar Raza led the plantation drive along with senior police officials, reinforcing the message of environmental conservation.
The programme was attended by Traffic DCP, ADCP, ACP, and other senior officers of the police department. Participants planted saplings and pledged their commitment towards maintaining a clean and green environment.
Speaking on the occasion, the Police Commissioner said that environmental protection is not a one-day initiative but a collective responsibility of all, urging people to plant more trees and take care of them.
During the programme, summer kits were also distributed to traffic police personnel who are currently performing duties in extreme heat. The kits included essential items aimed at providing relief during outdoor duty hours.
The initiative highlighted both environmental awareness and concern for the health and well-being of frontline traffic personnel working in challenging weather conditions.
