Jalpaiguri, 15th August: The mystery surrounding the recovery of an unidentified teenager’s body from the banks of the Teesta River in Jalpaiguri has been solved, with police identifying the deceased and arresting four people in connection with the alleged killing within a few hours.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Mahadev Roy, a student of 10th Standard at Fanindra Deb Institution in Jalpaiguri town.
During the preliminary investigation, police suspect that Mahadev was allegedly taken to an isolated area along the Teesta riverbank as he was reportedly considered an obstacle in a romantic relationship. He was allegedly killed at the location, police said.
Jalpaiguri Kotwali Police arrested four people, including the alleged main accused Rohit Hossain, in connection with the incident.
The four accused were produced before the court on Saturday. Police have started a detailed investigation into the incident and are probing the circumstances surrounding the alleged killing.
