Siliguri, 19th November: The body of a woman, identified as Dolly Das, was recovered from the Shantipara area under Bhakti Nagar police station, sparking shock in the locality. In connection with the incident, the police have arrested her husband, Santosh Roy.
Reportedly, Dolly and Santosh were married eight years ago and have a child. It is alleged that Santosh frequently fought with and assaulted Dolly throughout their marriage, leaving her distressed.
On Monday, Santosh reportedly assaulted her again, prompting Dolly to visit her maternal home. Later, she returned to her husband’s house in Shantipara to fetch her child.
That evening, Dolly’s family received the tragic news of her death and alerted the Bhakti Nagar police. The police arrived at the scene, recovered Dolly’s body, and sent it to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for a post-mortem examination.
It remains unclear whether Dolly’s death was a case of suicide or murder. The police have arrested Santosh Roy and initiated further investigations.
