Siliguri, 20th May: A brazen robbery by a woman in broad daylight has caused a stir in the Shiv Shakti Kalibari area of Sukanta Pally, under Ward No. 33 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC).
According to reports, the incident took place on Sunday afternoon when a woman, accompanied by two children, allegedly fled from a house with gold jewellery and cash worth approximately ₹10 lakh. At the time, the homeowner was engaged in prayer, allowing the accused to enter unnoticed.
As per local sources, the woman, carrying a child in her arms and followed by another around 8–10 years old, went straight to a cupboard after entering the house. She then opened it and fled with valuables, including gold, cash, and other items.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV installed in the house. The footage shows the woman entering confidently and committing the theft in broad daylight. Family members discovered the robbery only after returning to the room and immediately lodged a written complaint at the NJP police station.
Police have begun investigating the case and are examining the CCTV footage to identify and trace the accused.
