Siliguri, 30th November: A woman was injured after being hit by a truck at the Jabrabhita underpass. The injured has been identified as Anna Das, a resident of the Krishnanagar area of Thakurnagar.
Reportedly, this morning Anna Das was returning home by bicycle after purchasing goods from the market. While on her way a truck hit her on the Jabrabhita underpass seriously injuring her. After this, the locals rescued her and rushed her to Siliguri District Hospital.
The angry mob took possession of the truck and thrashed the driver. On the other hand, NJP police reached the spot as soon as the information about the incident was received. The situation was brought under control with the intervention of the police.
It may be noted that a few days ago, a school student died after being hit by a truck in the Jabrabhita area. The residents of the area have expressed their displeasure over the dilapidated condition of the road and the role of the police.
