Siliguri, 19th August: Former Trinamool Congress (TMC) councillors submitted a memorandum to the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) Commissioner on Wednesday over several demands, including alleged interference by BJP-appointed ward coordinators in civic body work.
The former councillors also alleged that work on several tenders approved during the previous TMC government has currently been stopped.
According to the former councillors, police initially stopped them from entering the SMC premises when they arrived to submit the memorandum. They were later allowed to enter and held a meeting with the Commissioner, where they raised their concerns.
After hearing their complaints, the Commissioner assured them that the issues would be examined and appropriate action would be taken.
Speaking on the matter, Darjeeling District (Plains) TMC President Kuntal Roy alleged that ward coordinators were creating obstacles in various civic works, including work involving Nirmal Sathi and Nirmal Bandhu workers.
Roy said the delegation raised these issues with the Commissioner in detail and sought appropriate intervention.
