Woman in Naxalbari sets husband and his alleged lover on fire over suspicion of extramarital affair

Naxalbari, 14th October: Aggrieved by her husband's extramarital affair, a woman allegedly set her husband and his alleged lover on fire using petrol. The incident surfaced from Kiran Chandra Tea Garden located in Naxalbari.


The accused, Rupa Das, is the wife of tea garden officer Sudipta Das. She apparently took the drastic step upon suspicion of her husband's extramarital affair with a plantation worker Sujata Barai. Both the injured were rushed to Naxalbari Hospital with the help of local residents. However, considering their critical condition, they were referred to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital and then to a nursing home in Siliguri.

Reportedly, the alleged lover, Sujata, succumbed to her injuries during treatment today. While Sudipta Das is under medical treatment. Furthermore, Roopa Das has been arrested after the relatives of the deceased lodged a written complaint against her.
