Bagdogra, 30th August: Sensation prevailed following the alleged gang rape of a girl in Bagdogra. After the incident, a young man was arrested by Bagdogra police in connection to the case. The arrested accused has been identified as Nitin Toppo.
According to reports, on August 15, a young girl was lured by a man from an area under Bagdogra police station to accompany him on the pretext of providing a job in a tea garden. Following this 6 youths allegedly gang-raped the woman after intoxicating her with alcohol.
After the incident, the girl managed to escape and narrated her ordeal to her family on Tuesday night. Subsequently, the family filed a complaint at the Bagdogra Police Station. During the investigation, Nitin Toppo was arrested from Hanskhowa in Bagdogra. Following the arrest, the family of the victim has demanded stringent punishment for the culprits involved in the act. On Wednesday, the accused was produced before the Siliguri Court, while, police are on a hunt to apprehend the other accused involved in the crime.
