Siliguri, 08th August: The Siliguri Police Commissionerate organised the ‘Patha Nirapatta Cup 26’, a one-day football tournament for women, on Saturday as part of Road Safety Week 2026.
The tournament was organised by Balasan Sub-Traffic Guard at the Chandmani Tribal Sporting Club Football Ground. The event aimed to raise awareness about road safety among the public through sports.
During the programme, messages on wearing helmets, using seat belts, respecting pedestrians and following safe practices while travelling on roads were highlighted. The event was held under the theme ‘Safe Roads, Safe Pedestrians’ and witnessed good public participation.
DCP (Traffic) Quazi Samsuddin Ahamed, ADCP Purnima Sherpa and several other officials were present at the event. The officials interacted with the players, encouraged them and inaugurated the tournament by kicking the football.
